Psychotherapy in English

I trained and worked in London for 15 years as a clinical psychologist and family therapist. I recently relocated to Portugal and am available for clinical appointments in Póvoa de Varzim and Porto.

I work mostly with couples and families, but also with individuals presenting a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety, low mood, and relationship difficulties.

I use an integrative approach by combining Systemic Therapy, CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, and Emotion-focused approaches. I trained and worked in the NHS in a variety of settings for the last 8 years.

I have a special interest in eating disorders and body image difficulties and have worked with the NELFT Eating Disorders Service for adolescents and adults and the Royal Free Hospital Eating Disorder Service for young people.

I grew up in Portugal and qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2006. I was awarded a PhD scholarship and moved to the UK in 2007. I completed my PhD in Developmental Psychology at the Royal Holloway University of London. I then worked at the University College London on several research projects about the impact of physical illness on mental health and how illness affects family members. This work inspired me to learn more about working systemically with individuals and families. I completed a Master’s in Family Therapy at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, in 2018.
